Network Account

Every SLC student is provided with an individual user account on our network.

You get access to our many networked computing facilities in Brockville, Cornwall and Kingston.

You get the ability to store and retrieve files from your own private storage area on our network, referred to as your home directory - or H: drive.

You have access to the academic shares of your instructors.

You can remotely access your personal data storage and the academic shares of your instructors from anywhere you connect to the internet.

Logon Procedure

Your User Name and Password

Start up the computer and follow the instructions until the Log On to Windows dialog box appears. (On a Macintosh computer it is the Mac OS X dialog box.)

In the User name: field type your user name followed by @SL.ON.CA

In the Password: field, type your network password, then press the enter key or click OK.

Remember to logoff before leaving - otherwise  the activities of the next user who sits down at that system will be attributed to you.

Think about it. Protect yourself … LOGOFF!

Your User Name

Your first initial then your last name then your two-digit birth day.

For Jon Michael, born July 15 the user name would be JMichael15

For Sarah Michael, born May 8 the user name would be SMichael08

Your Default Network Password

The digit 0 immediately followed by your 7-digit student number.

With a student number of 4999999 the password would be 04999999

For reasons of security, the first time you logon to the college network you will be required to change your password immediately. So be prepared and have

an 8-character alphanumeric password ready.
