What is Peer Tutoring?

If you are having difficulty in one or more of your courses, the Peer Tutoring Program may be of benefit to you. Peer Tutors are available to help explain course content, assist with study strategies, or even to just lend support. Peer tutoring is available in most programs and subject to tutor availability.

Peer Tutoring is free for eligible students!

In order to be eligible to receive a Peer Tutor, students must demonstrate their intent to succeed by regularly attending classes and completing all assignments. First priority for tutoring will be given to students who are at risk of failing a course.

Tutors Wanted!

Those students who are strong academically in their courses may be interested in becoming a Peer Tutor. The rewards of tutoring others include extra income, excellent experience, reinforcement of own knowledge and the satisfaction of helping others.

Tutors should be strong academically, possess excellent communication skills, a positive, helpful attitude and be endorsed by faculty.

Peer tutors must complete the Student Employment on Campus Assessment available at StLawrenceCollege.ca. Students should demonstrate a financial need for the amount of income they will earn through Peer Tutoring employment. Students who are unable to show a financial need should discuss this with their Student Success Facilitator.

Students who wish to get a tutor must submit an application form to the Student Success Facilitator of their School.

Download the application form or get one through the Student Success Facilitator. Each course request must be approved by the appropriate teacher.
